I was biting my nails reading this. Glad you and your bags are reunited. Taking note of the Apple Air Tag. I am a Mac fan too and recently upgraded my iPhone. I still prefer the shots my DSLR takes but in certain situations, the phone camera and video are godsends.
The digital cameras can be better if you know how to use them well, but the computer that calculates the iPhone settings is amazing and much better at choosing exposures and colour profiles than me. The main thing for me, tho, is still the constant fear you are going to be mugged as you wave around your $1000+, easily resold camera and lenses.

I agree. I get nervous enough waving my iPhone around on vacation.
